BURNHAM, Pa. (AP) -- A worker at a central Pennsylvania steel processing plant has suffered serious injuries in a suspected gas explosion.
Mifflin County Public Safety Director Phil Lucas said an explosion and small fire occurred in a locker room facility at Standard Steel in Burnham shortly before 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Lucas said one employee is being treated at a regional burn center for serious injuries. No other information about the person's condition was available.
All other employees were quickly accounted for and no other injuries were reported.
The exact cause of the explosion was not immediately clear but officials believe it was some kind of a mechanical failure that caused a gas leak.
The Mifflin County Regional Police Department is investigating.
