WEST YORK, Pa. (AP) -- Police in West York say two adults face charges and three others were taken into custody after they found two apartments where seven children lived in unsafe, filthy and unsanitary conditions.
The York Daily Record/Sunday News reported Saturday that the children were getting medical attention and in protective custody.
The paper says in one home cockroaches were on floors, ceilings, furniture, mattresses and the inside of the refrigerator.
In other unit, a cheese product was sprayed on walls and there was no edible food or drink in the fridge.
Two adults were charged with endangering the welfare of children and reckless endangerment. Police say their investigation continues.
The building's other four units were clean and normal, but those residents had to leave because the property was condemned.
