CARLISLE, Pa. (AP) -- Criminal charges are pending against a central Pennsylvania woman after police said they found more than 50 wild and domesticated animals living in filthy conditions at her home.
Police said the animals removed from the home in Cumberland County included numerous dogs and cats, an albino groundhog, a de-scented skunk and two monkeys.
North Middleton Township said an officer responding to an unrelated complaint Jan. 28 found the home in "deplorable" condition.
Police, codes enforcement, the Humane Society and the state Dog Warden returned Friday and found animal feces and urine throughout the home. They said the animals were in poor health and were either caged or roaming freely around the house.
A call to the homeowner, identified as 59-year-old Sondra Lea McCoy, was not immediately returned.
