PITTSBURGH (AP) -- An 18-year-old Pittsburgh man has died after he was hit by a train, apparently while fishing under a city bridge.
Police say a friend had dropped off some food for Jessie Numer, of Pittsburgh, and was leaving when Numer was hit by the train. Police say Numer apparently bent down near the railroad tracks while walking back to his fishing spot and was hit by the train, which threw his body about 30 feet.
That happened shortly after 5 p.m. Sunday.
The Allegheny County medical examiner's office announced Monday that Numer died about six hours later at Allegheny General Hospital.
Police say the person who dropped off the food drove Numer to the hospital.
An autopsy was scheduled later Monday.
