DETROIT (AP) — A group of 30 teens will give their perspectives on texting and drivingduring the "Chevy Hack Lab" in Detroit.

The daylong hack-a-thon event is being hosted downtown Saturday by Chevrolet, a brand of Detroit automaker General Motors.

Organizers say it aims to enable the 13- to 18-year-olds "to discover creative solutions and celebrate their uninhibited ingenuity."

The teens — from the U.S.., China, India, South Korea, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Israel and Dubai — will be given the problem and allowed to develop technological solutions. The solutions will be judged by their peers with the best being named hack-a-thon winner.

Chevrolet global executives will be part of a team of panelists participating in the event.

Texting while driving is illegal in many communities across the United States.
