BLOOMSBURG — Some big-name musical acts from the 1980s and ‘90s will play the Bloomsburg Fair’s main stage this year, the grandstand superintendent said.

Melissa Etheridge and Vince Gill each have concerts scheduled for fair week. So does rock star Daughtry, who originally made his mark on American Idol.

Bloomsburg Fair Grandstand Superintendent Brian Wawroski said tickets will be on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

Etheridge, who had hits with “I’m the Only One,” “Come to My Window,” and “Like the Way I Do,” is a pop rock star known for her raspy vocals. She’ll take the stage on Thursday, Sept. 27. Tickets for her show range in price from $25-$39.

Gill is in the Country Music Hall of Fame and has 17 Grammys, the most of any male country artist. He had hits in the 1980s and ‘90s with “Never Knew Lonely” and “When I Call Your Name,” among others. Gill’s concert will be Friday, Sept. 28. His tickets range from $44 to $56.

Daughtry, who’s known for songs like “It’s Not Over” and “What About Now?”, will headline the fair’s first Preview Day concert on Friday, Sept. 21. He rose to fame as a finalist in season 5 of American Idol. To get in to his show, concertgoers will have to part with $44 to $56.

This is the second wave of concerts announced by the fair as part of a new rollout this year, where tickets are being made available soon after the shows are announced.

Venues across the state begin announcing upcoming acts in the spring, Wawroski said, “And we wanted to get a piece of that pie.”

He said more than 3,500 tickets have already sold for the first concerts announced, Christian band Casting Crowns and ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer. Casting Crowns is playing Sunday, Sept. 23, while Farmer will perform Monday, Sept. 24.

Wawroski said the fair plans to hold a block of tickets for fair members who want to redeem their vouchers for Etheridge, Gill or Daughtry for three weeks after they go on sale Friday.
