BRIAR CREEK -- Police are looking for a woman they say has stolen nearly $1,600 in razors from a grocery store in the last two weeks.
Surveillance tapes from the Giant Food Stores in Briar Creek on March 2, 10, and 13 show a gray-haired woman pushing a grocery cart around the store, said Bloomsburg State Trooper Audra Schmidt. The woman is seen putting the occasional item in the cart as if she's shopping, before she heads to the razor section, Schmidt said.
Once there, she grabs several razors and refill cartridges, some of which cost as much as $30 a pack, according to police. After placing them near her open purse in the cart's child seat, she eventually moves the items into her purse. She quickly dumps the cart of groceries and leaves the store, driving away in a silver, older model four-door sedan -- possibly a Chevrolet Cavalier or a Pontiac Sunfire, police say.
The thefts happen quickly, Schmidt said. It took the woman only eight minutes from the time she entered the store on her last visit on March 13 to get to the razors and get back out the door, according to the tapes.
The thief may be local, and she may also be part of a larger theft ring, Schmidt said.
