BERWICK -- Someone robbed a 66-year-old woman by a church Friday night, pulling her to the ground and seriously injuring her, police said. Officers are asking the public for help finding the attacker. The incident happened at 7:20 p.m. on the 300 block of North Market Street, in the parking lot of First Presbyterian Church, said Police Chief Kenneth Strish. A man attacked the woman from behind, grabbing her purse, which was on her shoulder, and pulling her to the ground. The woman's head hit the ground hard enough to injure her, police said. The man then ripped the purse away from her, seriously hurting her arm in the process, Strish said. Officers asked anyone who saw a person acting suspiciously in the 300 block of North Market Street or the 300 block of Pine Street to call the Columbia County Communications Center at 570-784-6300.
