String of burglaries reported between Berwick and Shickshinny

SALEM TWP. -- Police are investigating a string of four to five burglaries between Berwick and Shickshinny since Jan. 22. * On Jan. 22, there was a break-in at 721 E. Second St., Berwick, where more than $6,000 in furniture, jewelry, electronics and other items was taken. * On Jan. 26, there was a reported burglary at 566 Mingle Inn Road, Salem Township, in which a 42-inch flat-screen TV was taken along with jewelry, and electronics. Police say the items were worth about $710. * On Feb. 7, a home at 253 Moores Hill Road was broken into, and a Remington rifle and 60-inch flat-screen TV worth a combined $2,800. * On Feb. 19, there was a reported break-in at 1001 E. 16th St., Berwick. Nothing appeared to be taken. * On March 10, there was a burglary reported at 1242 Bowers Road in Salem. The thieves reportedly made off with a 9mm handgun, a 24-inch flat-screen TV, a large amount of jewelry, and electronics. Police are asking residents to be vigilant in keeping watch over their neighborhood, and to report anything that may look suspicious. Salem Township Police can be reached at 570-752-3772.
