BRIAR CREEK — A man stole $200 from a cashier at the Surplus Outlet by asking for change for large bills, then using sleight of hand to conceal some of the bills he handed back, State Police say.
Now, they have photos of the men they believe were involved and are looking for the public's help identifing them. The pictures are below.
A report describes the incident:
The unknown suspect entered the store with another man around 7 p.m. Jan. 18.
They asked the cashier to give them change for four $100 bills. They spoke to her the entire time.
When she handed them 20 $20 bills, one man asked her to give him change for those bills.
Then, he told the cashier to forget about it. He asked for his $100 bills back.
As she handed the $100s back, he hid 10 $20 bills in his left hand. Then, he handed her 10 folded $20 bills with his right hand.
That means he left the store, 7597 Columbia Blvd., with an extra $200. Surplus Outlet didn’t discover the theft for about 24 hours.
State Police in Bloomsburg describe the suspects as white males about 23 to 30 years old.
Anyone with information should call Trooper Jack Hancock at 570-387-4261.
