Bloomsburg man shot in police pursuit
SCOTT TWP. -- A Bloomsburg man carrying four pounds of marijuana led a 100-mph car chase that ended after he was shot by a trooper on Interstate 80 Saturday, charges say.
William Anthony Tyler, 20, escaped from his crashed car and was headed to Route 487 on foot just before 2 a.m., but police were closing in.
A trooper's Taser did nothing to slow Tyler down, and he was ignoring repeated commands to stop, police say.
Driver 'lucky' in Sunday morning wreck
NORTH CENTRE TWP. -- A Berwick driver lost control along Route 93 Sunday morning, narrowly avoiding a telephone pole and a power station before his van stopped in a culvert, trapping him inside, police say.
Luigi Deluca, 82, not only avoided the two obstacles, but the van also managed to remain on its tires despite the rough and rocky terrain, "which is amazing," added Briar Creek Township Police Officer Vernon Petty.
