ELECTION: Upset in Danville's Third Ward
DANVILLE -- Longtime councilwoman Betty Ann Moyer was defeated Tuesday by a Geisinger physician assistant in the Republican primary for the Third Ward.
Thomas Wickham took the GOP nomination with 21 votes to Moyer's 12, according to unofficial results.
A retired teacher, Moyer is also the president of the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs.
She has been on council about 28 years.
Election officials say there was heavy write-in activity on the Democratic ballot that will be tallied over the next few days.

Danville woman to be on 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire'
DANVILLE -- Carey Lutz of Danville will be a contestant on "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" airing this Friday.
Lutz, 33, is the daughter of Don and Patti Lutz of Danville, according to the show. Her boyfriend, Chris, brother Donnie and her mom all went to New York with her and sat in the "Millionaire" audience for the taping of the show.
Lutz, a 1998 graduate of Danville High, is planning a viewing party at a local fire company to watch the episode and is expecting more than 50 people to join her, the show said in a press release.
