Three rescued from swamped boat in river near Berwick

BERWICK -- Rescuers plucked two brothers and a young girl from a swamped fishing boat near the base of the Berwick-Nescopeck bridge Wednesday evening. Rick and Robert Dement, and Robert's 8-year-old daughter Emily, had gone fishing in a motorized boat on Wednesday afternoon, taking off from the boat launch at Test Track Park and heading under the Berwick-Nescopeck bridge to fish the area north of it.

Man arrested in grocery store after overnight feast of steak, beer

MOUNT WASHINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Authorities in Kentucky have charged a man who officers say had an overnight feast in a closed supermarket outside Louisville. The manager of a ValuMarket says he found 57 empty whipped cream cans in the garbage when he arrived Monday morning. WAVE-TV in Louisville reported 30-year-old Trevor Runyon was charged after he was found in the ceiling of the store. Surveillance video from the store showed that Runyon cooked and ate six steaks, washed them down with beer and then topped off his meal with shrimp and birthday cake.

DA: Central Pa. death row inmate punches his own attorney

HOLLIDAYBURG, Pa. (AP) -- A man on death row in the killing of his girlfriend nine years ago has sucker-punched his attorney during a central Pennsylvania court hearing on his latest appeal. Blair County District Attorney Richard Consiglio is calling 50-year-old Andre Staton a "coward" for his attack on defense attorney Tim Burns on Monday. The Altoona Mirror (http://bit.ly/12rMxBV ) reports Staton was apparently upset by a judge's ruling before he swung his cuffed hands baseball-style and hit Burns in the side of the head.
