WEST WYOMING, Pa. (AP) -- A former police chief from northeastern Pennsylvania charged with collecting several double paychecks won't face charges under a plea deal reached with prosecutors.
A judge in Luzerne County on Monday gave former West Wyoming Chief David Gashi 30 days to repay almost $4,000 back to the borough and more than $14,000 to the police pension fund. If he does so, the theft case against him will be dismissed.
Authorities accused Gashi and another former police chief in West Wyoming, Stanley Sipko, of receiving double paychecks between 2005 and 2009.
In October, Sipko was sentenced to a probationary program for first-time offenders as part of his plea agreement with prosecutors.
