11-pound dog clogs busy tunnel

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- An 11-pound dog that backed up tons of traffic in Pittsburgh's Fort Pitt Tunnel has been taken to an animal shelter while the Western PA Humane Society tries to locate its owner.
The tan-and-brown Chihuahua mix stopped traffic in the inbound tunnel for about 30 minutes Monday morning.
That happened about 10:30 a.m. when motorists noticed the dog running through the tunnel. Several motorists stopped their cars and got out to help the dog, which finally took refuge under a woman's car. She managed to coax it out with a kayak paddle she'd been carrying in her vehicle.
David Janusek, the executive director of the Humane Society, says officials there have nicknamed the dog "Rain."
Why? Janusek says that's because, "When it rains, people slow down and don't want to go through the tunnels."
