CATAWISSA — A team of professional searchers plans to comb the area of the borough tonight, looking for Wyatt Yohey, 16, who went missing from his home in the borough in the early morning hours Wednesday.

Yohey has Asperger's Syndrome and is fond of walking back roads in the Numidia area, police said in a release.

Police believe Yohey may be headed towards the Danville area.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the department at 570-784-6300 or 570-356-7102.

Yohey is about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a green or gray T-shirt, and white-and-black Adidas sneakers.

He may have a green “army-colored” backpack with him, a press release says.

Borough Police Chief Joshua Laidacker said the search will be taking place around 6:30 tonight and will include a specially-trained team who has dogs trained to find people.

While Laidacker said he had heard of groups planning their own searches, he's asking the public to hold off while police and fire search for the boy.

“Due to the involvement of scent dogs, it is important to keep the area as clear as possible,” Laidacker explained in a press release.

Participating in the search are Catawissa Borough Police, Locust Township Police and Montour Township Police; and firefighters from Catawissa, Valley Chemical and Montour Township.

Police also requested help from two search-and-rescue teams with dogs trained to find people; State Police; East Central Incident Management Team; and the Pennsylvania EMA Civil Air Patrol.
