Police department to move headquarters

DANVILLE — If all goes as planned, the Danville Police Dept. will move into its new headquarters on East Front Street some time in May, according to Officer in Charge Jonathan Swank.

The move will mean that the department’s seven police officers will go from having 3,000 square feet of space to nearly 10,000 square feet and will have access to the latest police technology, Swank said.

“The building used to be a bank,” Swank said of the department’s current location,  “Our evidence locker used to be a safe. It’s secure, but it’s really small.”
