Fountain foams in Bloom

BLOOMSBURG -- Someone dumped Dawn detergent in the town fountain between Saturday night and Sunday morning, causing it to foam up when the water spouts turned on Sunday, police said. This picture shows what it looked like around 9:15 a.m. Foam piled on the ledge of the fountain at the Market and Main Street intersection in Bloomsburg as water circulated. By Sunday afternoon, public works crews had dumped neutralizing chemicals into the water and the fountain had returned to normal. Police say they found an empty bottle of Dawn detergent on the ledge of the fountain.

BERWICK -- A Berwick man who's been arrested four times after drinking the potent malt liquor Four Loko is done with the controversial drink, he says. Robert Jack Kaiser Jr., of 127-A E. Second St., said the fruity beverage with a high-alcohol content is "off his drinking list." "They're no good for nobody," Kaiser said while waiting for a preliminary hearing. "In 2008, the first day they came out, I drank 10 of them. That was no good," he admitted. Each can contains 12 percent alcohol, which is almost three times the potency of typical beers.

Workers made the same modifications to Unit 2 during its regularly scheduled refueling outage, which is still ongoing.
