Shooting at Trump rally is being investigated as assassination attempt, AP sources say

BUTLER, Pa. (AP) — Donald Trump appeared to be the target of an assassination attempt as he spoke during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday, two law enforcement officials said. The former president, his ear covered in blood from what he said was a gunshot, was quickly pulled away by Secret Service agents and his campaign said he was “fine.”

A local prosecutor said the suspected gunman and at least one attendee are dead. The Secret Service said two spectators were critically injured.

Columbia-Montour's third judge could be McDonald, if nomination clears state legislature

BLOOMSBURG — A third judge for the 26th Judicial District that covers Columbia and Montour Counties has been nominated, but the candidate, attorney Anthony McDonald, says it is unclear if or when he will be seated.

McDonald said Thursday that Sen. Lynda Culver sent him a copy of a letter sent to Gov. Josh Shapiro on March 18 that formally nominated him for the seat, added by state lawmakers last year.

Cleanup continues in Berwick; straight-line winds eyed

BERWICK — A day after a storm ripped through town, destroying buildings and toppling trees, cleanup crews — both professional and volunteer — were hard at work. Meanwhile, some hard-hit farmers say they're working to recover from a once-in-a-lifetime storm.

Weather experts say it was likely straight-line winds and not a tornado that blew all this trouble into Berwick, but regardless of the direction of the destructive winds, they left behind a lot to cleanup.

Woman dies in three-vehicle crash

NESCOPECK – A woman is dead after a three-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on the southern approach to the Berwick-Nescopeck bridge here.

According to witnesses, a white Jeep Compass was traveling towards Berwick on Route 93 when, for unknown reasons, it swerved into the path of an oncoming pickup truck.

After colliding, the Jeep richochetted and was struck by a Dodge Charger that was also heading for Berwick, police said.
